Aoyama Cemetery is a large cemetery in central Tokyo (Minato district, near several subway stops including Gaiemmae Station, Ginza Line). The many trees and shrubs give it a park-like feel but because it is filled with graves instead of playing fields it is easier to find a quiet spot to meditate than most of the parks in Tokyo.
It can be quite busy during Cherry Blossom season (for good reason as this is a wonderful spot to observe the splendor) but most of the rest of the year it provides a quiet location to contemplate life and our tenuous attachment to it.
